Vipers 2-0 Maroons
Vipers ensured they stayed in touch with KCCA by dispatching Maroons 2-0 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) match played at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.
Tom Masiko’s penalty and Brian Nkuubi’s second half goal moved Vipers to 48 points, four behind leaders KCCA, who also won 2-0 at Kirinya-Jinja.
There are six matches left to end the league.
Vipers were, however, lucky to be awarded the first half penalty by referee Ronald Madanda when left back Aziz Kayondo went down in the box under minimal contact from Martin Mpuuga.
Masiko then stepped to give Vipers the lead on 40 minutes.
The second goal came on 72 minutes from an Ibrahim Kiyemba precise pass that was superbly controlled by the unmarked Nkuubi to slot on 72 minutes.
Defeat for Maroons leaves them two places above relegation with 25 points.
