Vipers SC 2-2 Mbarara City
Vipers SC squandered the chance of closing to within a point of leaders SC Villa as they traded blows with a resilient Mbarara City in a 2-2 draw played out at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.
Both teams led and leveled in a pendulum bob, and in the end there was no separating the two fighters as they shared spoils in this StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) clash.
The visitors showed their intentions early, Ibrahim Orit breaking the deadlock on 20 minutes as Mbarara took a half time lead.
But Vipers, and especially brace hero Fahad Bayo, returned from the break hungrier, the hosts leveling on 65 minutes before the striker gave the Venoms the lead for the first time as he completed his double on 80 minutes.
But Mbarara were not about to give in, the visitors striking Hillary Mukundane three minutes later to force a draw.
The result sees Vipers drop to fifth on seven points, while Mbarara are 10th, two points fewer.
