Eleven goals were scored in four StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) matches played across the country on Saturday.
Busoga United versus Vipers SC and Onduparaka away to Mbarara City contributed 10 of those.
Wakiso Giants added the other with their 1-0 win over UPDF, with URA and Express producing an anticlimax of a goalless draw.
Vipers had to come from a goal down against a struggling Busoga to win 4-1 at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Yunus Junior Sentamu, Ibrahim Orit, Caesar Lobi Manzoki and Abdul Azizi Kayondo scored the goals for the Venoms.
Mustafa Anwar Ntege’s second minute penalty after defender Livingstone Mulondo handled in the forbidden area only turned out to be a consolation for Busoga.
The response from the Venoms was brutal. Sentamu curved home a beautiful free-kick on 15 minutes.
Three minutes later, the visitors went ahead for the first time in the game, Orit’s powerful header ensuring a 2-1 half time lead.
Congolese forward Manzoki bulleted home the third on 52 minutes before Kayondo’s low drive sealed a routine victory for Vipers.
This was Vipers sixth victory in nine matches, taking them back to second position on 20 points – six behind leaders KCCA. The latter have played a game more.
For Busoga, it could not get worse. The Eastern side have now conceded nine goals in two matches after a 5-0 thumping defeat in the Jinja derby against rivals BUL a few days back.
This was Busoga’s sixth defeat in nine matches and they remain 13th on seven points.
Elsewhere, URA and Express played to a goalless draw at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje University, Luwero.
In the West, hosts Mbarara City and Onduparaka served us to some high adrenaline stuff.
The Ankole Lions had to recover from two goals down to edge visiting Onduparaka 3-2 at the Kakyeka stadium.
Solomon Okwalinga, Seiri Arigumaho and Hilary Mukundane scored for Mbarara while Ahmed Maya and Shaban Mohammad netted for Onduparaka.
At the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, hosts Wakiso Giants overcame a hard-fighting UPDF, thanks to Titus Ssematimba’s 12th minute penalty.
