Bright Stars 1-3 Vipers
Abraham Ndugwa walked away with a goal and a Pilsner Man of the Match accolade after orchestrating 10-man Bright Stars downfall in Vipers 3-1 away victory on their opening day of the season.
Daniel Sserunkuma and Brian Nkuubi scored the others as coach Edward Golola’s forwards all registered a happy outing.
Enock Walusimbi’s opener had caused waves at Wankulukuku in this Friday tie but Vipers experience and gulf in class told as they rallied to win it rather emphatically.
Bright Stars also lost Farouk Katongole to a red card late on after two bookable offences.
The victory sees the three-time StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) winners join URA at the log summit with three points after one match.
Walusimbi put the hosts ahead on 28 minutes to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
But Ndugwa levelled three minutes after the break before Fahad Bayo crafted the second for Vipers talisman Sserunkuma four minutes later.
Nkuubi then killed off any hopes of a late comeback for Bright Stars when he added the third for Vipers in added time.
