Vipers SC applaud fans after an earlier game in Kitende

Former Uganda Cup winners Vipers overcame SC Bronken in Kasese to triumph 3-1 and progress to the round of 32 of the 2018 Uganda Cup.

Returning defender Bashir Asiku and dazzling midfield starlet Frank ‘Zagga’ Tumwesigye put the visitors into a deserved lead before the hosts pulled one back before the break to leave the game on the edge.

However, any effort to strike a leveller where dealt a big blow by Steven Mukwala’s goal that put the icing on the cake for the two-time league champions.

Last season, the Venoms were eliminated at the quarter finals by Paidha Black Angels in a shock defeat at St. Mary’s Kitende.

With six points adrift of SC Villa in the league, the Uganda Cup presents a big opportunity for Jorge Da Costa’s side to win silverware this season.
