There were crucial wins for Mbarara City, Wakiso Giants, Proline and Vipers, with the latter stretching the lead at the summit.
Daniel Sserunkuma scored the only goal at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende as Vipers edged URA 1-0.
The victory moved the Venoms to 33 points, six ahead of Bul, who were not in action on the day.
Sserunkuma took full advantage of Fahad Bayo’s absence, scoring midway the second half after substitute Innocent Wafula drilled a low cross for the striker to tap home at the far post.
League’s leading scorer with eight goals, Bayo is away in Ouagadougou on natio
“I thank my players for the character and discipline they have displayed,” said Vipers coach Edward Golola.
URA also had their chances, Daniel Isiagi lifting his effort over goalkeeper Derrick Ochan and onto the crossbar.
“We were unlucky but you have to put away your chances when you are playing a team that is being aided,” said Sam Simbwa, the URA coach.
The defeat leaves URA in 10th on 14 points but with at least a game in hand on surrounding teams.
Elsewhere, Brian Senyondo marked his return to the Mbarara technical bench with victory as Solomon Okwalinga scored twice to hand his side a 2-1 home win over Onduparaka.
Wakiso Giants also beat Kyetume 3-0, with Viane Sekajugo again on the target.
Proline moved to four points for the first time since they lost their game to SC Villa by forfeiture and were docked six points.
They beat Bright Stars 2-1 at Lugogo, Edrisa Lubega and Hakim Kiwanuka scoring. August Kacancu got Bright Stars consolation.
