Vipers start Cecafa Kagame Cup with draw

Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma scored in the second half to salvage a point for Vipers SC against Zanzibar’s JKU in the opening Cecafa Kagame Cup match in Dar es Salam.

Abraham Musa had put the Islanders in front sixteen minutes into the game after a poor clearance by defender Bashir Asiku.

Jorge Miguel Da Costa gave debuts to goalkeeper Bashir Sekagya, Rahmat Ssenfuka and Ibrahim Kiyemba with all starting the game.

After going 1-0 down in the first half, the Portuguese reacted by taking off Frank Tumwesigye ‘Zagga’ and Duncan Sseninde for Brian Nkuubi and Milton Karisa respectively and later Steven Mukwala replaced Pius Wanji.

Vipers return to action on Sunday against holder Azam FC of Tanzania at the Chamazi.
