Gaddafi 1-2 Vipers SC

Arua Hill 0-1 Busoga United

UPDF 0-0 URA

Reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions, Vipers SC, began their title defence with a 2-1 away victory at Gaddafi on Sunday.

Last season’s MVP, Milton Karisa, and new Vipers Mauritanian forward, Mohamed Salem, scored the two first half goals while Benson Muhindo’s penalty after the break was only good for Gaddafi’s consolation.

The Solder Boys looked the better side in the opening minutes but Vipers soon took charge of proceedings by changing the statistic that matters most.

Karisa opened the scoring in the 27th minute when he received Yunus Sentamu’s pass and dummied Najib Tusaba before beating Dennis Ochieng in Gaddafi’s goal.

Salem made it 2-0 before half time, the Mauritanian scoring his league debut goal from a rebound after Ochieng had spilled Bright Anukani’s shot.

Muhindo then scored the home side’s consolation from the penalty spot on 55 minutes after Rogers Torach pulled Amos Kirya in an aerial duel.

Elwehere, Busoga United beat Arua Hill 1-0 in Adjumani with Isaac Doka Mweru scoring the goal. UPDF and URA played out a goalless draw in Bombo.
