Bul 1-1 Bright Stars

Vipers SC opened a four-point lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table following a 2-1 victory over Kyetume at a soggy Namboole on Tuesday.

This on a day their closest chasers, Bul, dropped two points in the 1-1 draw at home to Bright Stars.

Joseph Janjali struck late for Bright Stars to deny Bul, who had scored through James Otim, maximum points. The result leaves Bul in second place on 20 points, four behind leaders Vipers after 10 matches.

Back at Namboole, Fahad Bayo and Daniel Sserunkuma scored the goals for the three-time champions, Vipers, to see off a rather solid Kyetume.

Vipers went ahead as early as the fifth minute when theleague’s leading scorer Fahad Bayo headed home his seventh of the season after Kyetume goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa misjudged a Bashir Asiku cross.

Sserunkuma then doubled his team’s advantage on 14 minutes from the penalty spot after Bayo was brought down by Benon Tahomera.

The duo were almost at it again five minutes later only for Bayo to fail to beat Mutakubwa after being put through on goal by Sserunkuma.

Kyetume managed to pull a goal back 11 minutes after halftime when Halid Lwalirwa failed to clear a cross.

The ball then ended on Vincent Kayizi feet, the winger setting up Robert Ssentongo to thump the ball home. But Vipers held on for all thee points.
