Masavu 0-2 Vipers
Milton Karisa and Stephen Mukwala were on target as Vipers beat Masavu 2-0 in Entebbe on Tuesday to open a three-point lead at the league summit.
The two-time champions now move to 10 points, three ahead of Police, who face Onduparaka in Arua on Wednesday.
Defeat for Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) newcomers, Masavu, leaves them just above relegation on three points.
Should Police fail to pick maximum points at Onduparaka, Vipers will go into the international break clear at the top of standings.
Coach Miguel da Costa’s Venoms went ahead seven minutes to half time when Karisa, who also netted the only goal in the win over Bul, latched onto a long ball to beat goalkeeper Mansoor Mutumba.
Mukwala, signed from Edgar’ Youth, doubled Vipers advantage when he profited from Ibrahim Pengere’s misjudged bouncing ball to score on 58 minutes.
