Uganda’s representatives in the CAF champions League, Vipers SC, are virtually out of the competition with two matches to go after failing to win a game and score any goal in their first four group games.
The 1-0 defeat to Simba in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday left them bottom of Group C with just a point, earned in the goalless draw with Guinea’s Horoya AC. Clatous Chama scored Simba’s goal.
With the StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions’ final matches against Raja Casablanca at St Mary’s Kitende and away to Horoya, it is completely out of control for them.
Raja, who have already advanced to the quarterfinals, top the group on 12 points. Simba are second on six points – all picked off Vipers – and Horoya third on four.
Vipers’ defence of their domestic league title also now faces serious question marks after going seven games in all competitions without scoring a goal.
