SC Villa 1-3 Vipers

Ten-man Vipers came from behind to punish SC Villa 3-1 at Namboole on Wednesday evening.

Daniel Sserunkuma, Abraham Ndugwa and Moses Waiswa scored Vipers goals while Habib Kavuma headed in the hosts consolation.

The only downside to the Venoms victory was a straight red card to midfielder Taddeo Lwanga, who was sent off for an open boot on Albert Mugisa on 69 minutes.

Voctory returns coach Javier Martinez’s Vipers  top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table on 12 points – two ahead of KCCA, who had taken control on Tuesday.

Defeat for coach Moses Basena’s Villa means the record 16-time champions have now lost twice and drawn as many.

They drop into relegation zone with just two points from a possible 12.

Villa went ahead on 27 minutes when Kavuma headed in from a corner.

But Vipers powered back three minutes to half time break, Sserunkuma twisting three Villa defenders before sweeping it in for 1-1.

After recess, Vipers had the momentum, Waiswa breaking on the right and his cross headed out over Ndugwa acrobatically back heeling it in for a 2-1 lead on 47 minutes.

Waiswa completed the charge, sweeping in a free kick that hit the upright and in it went off the back of the goalkeeper on 50 minutes.
