StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) defending champions, Vipers SC, are back on top after thrashing SC Villa 3-0 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday.

Vipers drew first blood in the eighth minute when Dan Sserunkuma was gifted by SC Villa goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige’s misguided clearance.

Two minutes later, Sserunkuma put through left-back Disan Galiwango, whose swift cross was met by Yunus Sentamu for Vipers’ second and his sixth of the season.

Vipers came into this on the back of 1-0 defeat to Mbarara City, their first loss in 13 matches.

“After losing to Mbarara over the weekend, we worked on our aggression and speed, it paid off today,” Vipers deputy coach, Paul Kiwanuka, said after the match.

Marauding right-back Paul Willa’s powerful drive on 80 minutes then made it 3-0 for Vipers.

At Kavumba, Kitara picked their first three points of the season with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Wakiso Giants.

Peter Lomoro scored Kitara’s first goal before Edwin Agondezes brace ensured all three points.

Wakiso’s Rahmat Senfuka also saw his penalty was saved by Emmanuel Opio.

Viane Sekajugo also scored a brace for the Giants but it was not enough as they went down.

In the second match at Kavumba, Deogracious Ojok and Robert Mukongotya netted for visitors Bul as they overcame Soltilo Bright Stars to go ninth with 16 points.
