SC Villa 1-2 Wakiso Giants

Wakiso Giants went joint top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table following an impressive 2-1 victory over SC Villa on Friday.

Ibrahim Kasule and Shariph Kimbowa scored for Wakiso Giants while Seif Batte got Villa’s consolation.

Wakiso’s fourth win in seven matches sees them join BUL at the top of the table on 14 points.

Villa, who were losing only their second game in seven, drop one to third and remain on 13 points.

The Jogoos would have ended Match Day Seven top of proceedings had they mustered victory at Wankulukuku, but instead the Purple Sharks of Wakiso will enjoy the ride.

Actually, the visitors – Wakiso – could have punished Villa more as they had them just hanging on in the first half.

They were in front as early as the 16th minute when Grant Masiko teed on Kasule for the latter’s third goal of the season.

By half time, the Purple Sharks were 2-0 up as Villa struggled to live with them, Kimbowa getting the second on 45 minutes.

The hosts did pull one back on the hour, thanks to Batte, but Wakiso Giants held on for all three points to continue what is an impressive start to the campaign.
