Lweza FC vs. Vipers SC – Wankulukuku, 4:00pm (Live on Azam TV)
Ahead of the highly anticipated Entebbe Road derby between Lweza and Vipers SC, the two camps are on form at least on their lips.
The two rivals face off at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku with each seeking not only bragging rights but a target to achieve as far the log standings are concerned.
Former Vipers SC midfielder Emmanuel Kalyowa says the team’s target is to finish in the top five and that they can only achieve this by picking maximum points from each game and the one on Saturday is no different.
“Our target is to finish in the top five and to achieve that, we have to pick points,” he said. “Vipers will be favourites going into the game but we are ready to fight for maximum points. The fans should expect a good show,” he added.
His Coach Joseph Mutyaba insists that after beating Maroons 2-0 last weekend, they need to build on that and jump to comfortable positions.
We want to build on the win against Maroons. We are aware of the threat and quality they possess but we are not bad either. We are not safe from relegation monster at the moment and so we have to fight for every point. They shouldn’t expect an easy game against us.
For Juma Balinya, another former Vipers’ player, it will be a good contest between players that know each other well but he admits that Lweza is now much better improved than in the first round.
We are much changed a side from the first round after new additions and we are confident of beating anyone. As a former Vipers’ player, the onus will be to show how much I can still offer. I know most of their players, their playing style and the like and the target will be maximum points although we can only talk about the result after the game. We have respect but not fear for them.
Meanwhile, Erisa Ssekisambu who denied Lweza maximum points from the first round fixture says the table doesn’t lie insisting they are the better side.
We are neighbours and that brings out the rivalry. Nevertheless, we are the better side as the team reflects and we hope to reflect same despite playing away from home.
TEAM NEWS:
The hosts have no injury worries but the visitors will miss the services of William Wadri (Stomach complications), Patrick Ssembuya, Shafik Bakaki (Groin) and Duncan Sseninde but good news is that goalie Ismail Watenga will be in the match day squad.
