Wasteful Villa held at Police

Tuesday result

Police 2-2 SC Villa

Ten-man SC Villa squandered several opportunities, allowing Police to fight from 2-0 down and salvage a point in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) match played at Lugogo on Tuesday.

The exciting and high tempo game saw the league’s leading scorer Bashir Mutanda of Villa grab his 10th goal of the season but a brace from Police talisman Juma Balinya ensured points were shared here.

It was such an eventful game, so eventful that Villa greatly improved after Police’s Charles Lwanga was sent off minutes after scoring the opener.

The visitors had the hosts on the backfoot for most of the second half with Mutanda, who scored Villa’s second from a penalty spot, and company wasting one scoring chance after another.

With the clock ticking down, Police grew back into the game, Balinya scoring his eighth and ninth goals of the season late on.

The result helped Villa move ahead of Maroons into 12th position but with both clubs on 14 points and with the latter holding a game in hand.
