Wakiso Giants 3-0 Onduparaka
KCCA 4-1 SC Villa
KCCA legend Jackson Mayanja got off to a winning start as his club’s interim head coach when they routed SC Villa 4-1 on Sunday.
Tshisungu Kandonde, Saidi Mayanja, Rogers Mato and Julius Poloto scored KCCA’s goals while Charles Bbaale got Villa’s consolation at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
Villa remain top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log on 43 points, two ahead of KCCA but having played two games more.
Home fans treated Mayanja, who replaced – in the interim – Morley Byekwaso as head coach after the latter resigned last Sunday, as their own with a deafening reception.
KCCA went ahead on 22 minutes when Congolese striker Kankonde hit the back of the net after Villa goalkeeper Martin Elungat failed to deal with the ball.
Saidi Mayanja doubled KCCA’s advantage on 27 minutes before Villa’s Bbaale pulled one back for the Jogoos five minutes after the half time break.
But Mato and Poloto goals extinguished any hopes of a Villa comeback.
At Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, home side Wakiso Giants returned to winning ways after struggling since the start of the second round by thrashing Onduparaka 3-0.
Goals from Marvin Nyanzi, Norman Ojik and a Moses Aliro penalty were enough to move Wakiso Giants two places up to seventh on 30 points. Onduparaka remain bottom on 13 points.
