Wins for new leaders URA, KCCA as Express falter

Selected Tuesday results

UPDF 1-0 Express

Police 0-2 URA

Kyetume 0-1 KCCA

URA assumed table leadership of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) for the first time this season when they beat Police 2-0 at the MTN Phillip Omondi Stadium on Tuesday.

Shafiq Kagimu and Cromwell Rwothomio scored the goals to send the tax collectors two points clear on 30.

Midfielder Kagimu pounced on a loose ball in the box to drill home on 24 minutes.

Coach Abdallah Mubiru’s Police wasted a couple of chances in between, and even hit the post at least twice but the visitors held on.

URA then sealed the win when striker Rwothomio caught the defence napping to slot home the second goal four minutes after the hour.

Alex Kitatta’s 17-minute winner for UPDF saw hitherto leaders Express fall in Bombo in the 1-0 defeat.

The Red Eagles drop to second place on 28 points.

Elsewhere, KCCA stormed the top four thanks to Bright Anukani’s 66th minute winner over Kyetume in Njeru. They have 26 points.
