KCCA 0-0 BUL
Mbarara City 3-1 Express
Gddafi 0-1 URA
KCCA and BUL played out a goalless draw at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Friday as the pair kicked off their second round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
In the same breath, there were wins for Mbarara City and URA as the Ankole Lions thrashed Express 3-1 in Western Uganda and the Taxmen edged Gaddafi 1-0 away in the East.
It was the second successive match in which table leaders, BUL, were drawing, while KCCA were just recovering from a 2-1 defeat to Wakiso Giants early in the year.
BUL, who have now played a match more than second placed Vipers, could have opened a six point lead at the top had they beaten KCCA. They now lead by only four at 34 points from 16 matches.
KCCA, who struggled profusely at the start of the season, were drawing their sixth game in 16. The point kept them in ninth on 20.
Across in Jinja, coach David Obua’s URA ground out a narrow 1-0 victory over hosts Gaddafi, thanks to Norman Namanya’s 30th minute goal.
The Tax Collectors moved one up to seventh on 24 points after 16 matches, while Gaddafi remained a place above relegation on 16 points.
In Mbarara, the home side were in fine form as they dispatched Express 3-1, with Henry Kitegenyi netting a brace and Joseph Akandwanaho getting another goal for the Ankole Lions. Hussein Ssenoga scored Express’ consolation.
This was Mbarara’s fourth win of the season after 16 matches, and moved them one place up to 10th on 18 points, while Express stayed sixth on 25.
