Uganda Cranes winger Usama Arafat Kiza has set his sights on growth and silverware after sealing a move to StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC.

The 21-year-old this week put pen to paper on a three-year deal following the expiry of his contract at rivals KCCA FC, where he enjoyed two productive seasons.

“I’m really excited to be joining Vipers SC, one of the top clubs in Uganda,” Usama told the club website. “It’s an opportunity to challenge myself, compete for trophies and grow as a player while also representing the club in continental football.”

At KCCA, the left-footed winger stood out for his creativity and end product, netting seven goals and six assists last season after hitting 10 goals and six assists the previous campaign across all competitions.

His form has also translated to the national scene, where he captained Uganda’s U20s to silver at the 2024 All-Africa Games in Accra before breaking into the Cranes setup.

He was part of the side that reached the quarterfinals of the 2025 CHAN finals earlier this year.

Usama, who will don his favourite number 27 shirt at Kitende, acknowledges he is stepping into a highly competitive squad.

The Venoms’ attacking ranks already include skipper Milton Karisa and new arrivals Odili Chukwuma and Robin Kane Hney.

“That kind of competition is healthy,” he added. “It pushes you to improve every day. I’m eager to get started, work hard, and make a positive impact for the club.”

With his move from Lugogo to Kitende, Usama adds extra spice to the coming campaign as Vipers and KCCA — the two most successful sides of recent years — prepare to renew their rivalry in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
